5 point shed
found during
hunting season
2007 Rob
Richardson, Unity
4 point matched set
from a yearling that
frequents our field
January 2008
Do I look tired? I am but the long day
was well worth it. A matched set of
Moose antlers! The first Moose
antlers of the year.
Don Boissonnault of
Milford, NH sent in this
picture and said "This is a
set of a 6pt I found back on
1-8-08 in a old orchard that
Ive been going to for the
last couple of years. In the
past Ive found two 9pt sets
and a 8pt set and on the
run in to the orchard I also
found a 8" spike I hope
more in the future will send
some pictures of last year
sheds if you like ."
These are the skulls of the NH Locked Moose
project mounts. We thought that while many have
seen the full size mounts, that fewer had seen the
skulls themselves as they were found. These
photos were taken at the NH Fish & Game
headquarters in Concord, NH while they were still
in the fund raising stage
Rob's 4 point found 3/9/08
Massive 4 point Rob
found 4/27/08
Large matched set Rob found
5/6/08
5/6/08 Rob found the match to the
antler pictured way above (11/07).
Right antler (left in photo) is the
11/07, Left antler (right in photo) is
the mate found hidden within feet
of where the first one had been!
5/1/08 Rob found this battle
punctured set of Moose antlers
and a nice little Whitetail
"forkhorn"
5/3/08 Nancy Fogarty of Barrington, found these two nice
Moose antlers
5/12/08 Rob's interesting set of
Moose sheds found in Pittsburg
5/20/08 Antlers found by Rob's brother, Todd Richardson of
Springfield, NH in the middle of a field he was fertilizing! (or as
Todd says He was antler hunting by tractor.)
Chris Holmes of Penacook, NH sent us the above 4 photos.
The top left is a 3 point found on Long Island in Lake
Winnipesaukee. The right is a nice 8 point set found near his
house. The bottom two are the moose antlers found in Aug
2008. Left photo shows how one antler was found.
Chris Holmes took this
photo of a neat 7 point
(that's 7 points on one
side!) shed owned by Don
Boissonnault (also a
NHSHC member) while it
was at the taxidermist to
be repaired
Rob found this MASSIVE buck (estimated
weight was over 220 lbs, 8"from eye
corner to tip of nose, 19 3/8" inside
green spread) dead in the woods 11/08
being fed on by Coyotes (dead about a
week from the smell but looked like
coyotes only recently found him). Buck's
injuries and the condition of the
surrounding terrain suggest that he was
killed while fighting another buck!
Rob found this matched set of
moose antlers in Springfield
while hunting. He found one side
11/12 and the other side 11/13
about 30 yards from the first one.
Rob picked up this very old,
aged 4 point antler 11/18/08
while hunting he suspects
this is an older antler to a
set he picked up this year.
He also found another
antler today but it was so
chewed up and destroyed
that he left it in the woods.
